Given the substantial summer spending, few predicted Liverpool would be battling for a top-five finish. Yet, performances have dipped alarmingly, leaving fans struggling to recognize their own team. The midfield, once the engine room of the side, has been particularly disjointed, and Saturday's clash exposed these cracks once again.

The match started promisingly, with Liverpool dominating the opening 15 minutes and Ryan Gravenberch's early goal giving them a deserved lead. But from there, Chelsea seized control, exploiting every mistake the Reds made. While no Liverpool player covered themselves in glory, it was Ibrahima Konate who bore the brunt of criticism from pundit Ally McCoist. "I've got no idea how that's gone in, none whatsoever!
