Doubt is creeping in at Anfield. Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has admitted there is now "slight unrest" surrounding manager Arne Slot, questioning whether the club is truly heading in the right direction after another frustrating afternoon against Chelsea.
The Reds were booed off at full-time following Saturday's 1-1 draw at Anfield. After a bright start where Ryan Gravenberch gave Liverpool an early lead, the side faded badly, struggling to control the game against a Chelsea team that had lost six consecutive Premier League matches before arriving on Merseyside.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Crouch acknowledged the impossible task of following Jurgen Klopp but noted that supporter concern is growing.
"There is a bit of slight unrest with the manager at the moment," he said. The former England international pointed to both style of play and recruitment as key sources of frustration. "I think the style of play, maybe some of the recruitment—have they been up to the levels? Certainly not of previous seasons."
Crouch suggested fans are now asking serious questions about the club's long-term trajectory under the Dutch coach. "I think the fans are very knowledgeable in this stadium, and I think they know—is this the direction that we want to go?"
The criticism is no longer coming from isolated voices. Wayne Rooney has stated Liverpool "haven't got an identity" under Slot, while Jermaine Pennant accused the side of showing "zero press, zero intensity" against Chelsea.
Crouch stopped short of calling for the 47-year-old to lose his job, but hinted that major conversations are looming. "Certain conversations have to be had about what we do going forward."
For Liverpool supporters, the question is no longer just about results—it's about whether the identity and intensity that defined this club for nearly a decade can be restored.
