Liverpool's midfield is set for a major shake-up this summer, with a key player reportedly closing in on a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Curtis Jones, the 25-year-old Academy graduate, has emerged as a prime target for the Italian champions. After being linked with both Tottenham and Inter during the January window, Liverpool opted to keep hold of the midfielder mid-season. But with his contract expiring in 2027 and no new deal on the horizon, the Reds may now be forced to cash in.
According to TEAMtalk, Inter Milan remains firmly in the picture and is seen as an "attractive destination" for the Scouse playmaker. The report suggests that a move to Italy appeals to Jones should he decide to leave England, with Aston Villa and Newcastle also monitoring his situation.
This potential departure comes as manager Arne Slot looks to refresh an engine room that has shown signs of fatigue. The same core group that powered Liverpool to the 2024/25 Premier League title is now delivering diminishing returns. Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have dipped well below their championship-winning form, while Wataru Endo's injury has further limited Slot's options.
With Mac Allister also reportedly on the market—despite being under contract until 2028—and Jones' future uncertain, Liverpool are being linked with summer reinforcements including Adam Wharton and Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga.
However, there's a sobering footnote to any potential Jones exit: his departure would leave Liverpool's first-team squad without a single local player in the ranks—a lamentable reality for a club built on its connection to the city.
