Liverpool's injury crisis is deepening at the worst possible time, with key defender Ibrahima Konate missing training just days before Saturday's massive Premier League clash against Chelsea at Anfield.

The Reds are already leading the Premier League for total injuries this season, and the situation shows no signs of improving. Manager Arne Slot has been forced to navigate a minefield of fitness setbacks, and the squad looked worryingly thin during the damaging defeat at Manchester United.

Speaking live from the AXA Training Centre, Sky Sports News reporters confirmed that Konate was notably absent from the session. The French center-back had been substituted late in the Old Trafford defeat after Federico Chiesa came on, and while it could simply be workload management, his absence immediately raised concerns.

"There's no Ibrahima Konate out there at the moment," Sky Sports explained. "It could be a case of them managing his workload, but no Ibrahima Konate out there training with the rest of his teammates."

The injury list doesn't end there. Mohamed Salah was also absent from full training as he continues his recovery from the hamstring issue picked up against Crystal Palace. Alisson Becker remains sidelined from goalkeeper drills, while Alexander Isak, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and several other senior players are still unavailable.

The report painted a grim picture, noting that Liverpool's squad currently looks "a bit short of numbers" — hardly surprising given the growing treatment room.

Slot's frustration is palpable. After Salah's latest setback, the Dutchman summed up the mood perfectly: "Another win and another injury. It's the story of our season." That sentiment has only intensified in recent weeks, and it's beginning to explain the inconsistency that has crept into Liverpool's performances during this difficult run.

With Chelsea coming to Anfield on Saturday, the Reds are desperately hoping for some positive news — but right now, it feels like Slot simply cannot catch a break.
