Live updates from Jeffco Stadium as Fort Collins-area athletes compete for titles at the 2026 CHSAA high school state track and field championships.

The roar of the crowd, the crack of the starting gun, and the thrill of the finish line—Colorado high school track and field's biggest stage is officially set. From May 14-16, JeffCo Stadium in Lakewood transforms into the epicenter of speed, strength, and determination for the 2026 CHSAA state championships.

Day one is already buzzing with energy as the Centennial State's finest leapers, runners, jumpers, sprinters, vaulters, and throwers take their marks. The Fort Collins area is making a serious statement this year, with over 100 athletes from nine local schools qualifying across four classifications. That's a wave of talent that promises plenty of podium moments.

Leading the charge is Fort Collins High School, boasting 18 individual qualifiers and seven relay squads. But they're far from alone—the depth of Northern Colorado's track scene is on full display. Local sprinters and relay teams have locked down more than 40 top-two seeds in their events, while field event contenders and distance runners are poised to make their mark.

The action kicks off early with running finals. The morning heats up from 10:00-10:50 a.m. with the 4A and 5A boys' and girls' 4x800 relays—a true test of endurance and teamwork. Then, from 11:00 a.m. to noon, the spotlight shines on the Special Olympics and Paralympics 100 and 200 dashes for 4A/5A athletes, celebrating inclusivity and pure athletic spirit.

After a brief pause, the Special Olympics and Paralympics return at 2:20-2:45 p.m. for the 3A, 2A, and 1A 100 and 200 dashes. The afternoon wraps up with the 3A and 2A boys' and girls' 4x800 relays from 4:00-5:00 p.m., closing out a packed first day.

Field events are also in full swing, with athletes vying for titles in jumps, throws, and vaults. Since the year 2000, local stars have etched their names into state meet history, and this year's crop looks ready to add new chapters.

Whether you're tracking your favorite athlete or just soaking in the electric atmosphere, day one at JeffCo is delivering everything we love about high school track—raw talent, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments. Stay tuned for live updates as Fort Collins-area athletes chase glory under the Colorado sun.
