Up to this point, the 2026 NFL Draft had played up almost exactly as expected in terms of the 10 or 11 best players in the draft coming off the board. Then the Miami Dolphins went on the clock and gave us our first pick that we question by taking Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.

The issue with Proctor is that at times he doesn't seem highly motivated to play well. His weight and his conditioning have been an issue, especially last season and for all of his power and potential, he's a guy we worry will need to be babysat by the Dolphins to stay in shape and locked in to maximize all that potential.

Last season, the Dolphins tried to play Jonah Savaiinaea at guard, and it was a failed experiment. We expect this pick to be a move to try and upgrade that spot at guard with the hope that Proctor could eventually stay focused long enough to slide outside to offensive tackle.
