Defending champion Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 at home against Lorient on Saturday to give rival Lens a glimmer of hope in the Ligue 1 title race. A win for second-place Lens at Nice later Saturday would cut PSG's lead to four points with three games remaining, with Lens hosting PSG on May 13. PSG beat Bayern Munich 5-4 earlier this week in a pulsating Champions League semifinal match, and coach Luis Enrique rested goalkeeper Matvei Safonov, midfielder Vitinha and defender Nuno Mendes ahead of Wednesday’s return leg in Germany.

Paris Saint-Germain stumbled in their Ligue 1 title defense on Saturday, settling for a dramatic 2-2 draw at home against Lorient. The result opens the door for second-place Lens, who can cut PSG's lead to just four points with a win at Nice later in the day.

With only three games remaining and a crucial showdown between the two rivals scheduled for May 13 at Lens, the title race just got a whole lot more interesting.

PSG came into the match riding high after a thrilling 5-4 Champions League semifinal victory over Bayern Munich earlier this week. Coach Luis Enrique made no secret of his priorities, resting key players including goalkeeper Matvei Safonov, midfielder Vitinha, and defender Nuno Mendes ahead of Wednesday's return leg in Germany. Star forward Ousmane Dembélé also started on the bench alongside midfielders Joao Neves and Warren Zaïre-Emery.

The match started brightly for the hosts when teenage forward Ibrahim Mbaye pounced on a fumbled cross from Lorient goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo to slot home from close range in the sixth minute. But PSG's joy was short-lived. Poor defending allowed Pablo Pagis to equalize just six minutes later with a crisp volley past 19-year-old backup goalkeeper Renato Marin.

Zaïre-Emery looked to have secured all three points when he came off the bench and scored with a slightly deflected strike from 20 meters in the 62nd minute. The momentum shifted dramatically, however, when PSG academy striker Pierre Mounguengue made his first-team debut—only to gift Lorient the equalizer with a misplaced back pass. Benin striker Aiyegun Tosin intercepted, raced clear, and fired a low shot off the post in the 77th minute.

Elsewhere, Marseille's turbulent season took another hit with a 3-0 loss at next-to-last Nantes. The defeat, their fourth in six games, puts sixth-place Marseille's Champions League qualification hopes in jeopardy. Only the top three teams advance directly, and Marseille could drop to seventh if Monaco beats last-place Metz.

Monaco's match carries extra intrigue with Paul Pogba making his first league start since 2023 with Juventus, slotting into midfield for the visitors. Meanwhile, Nantes' victory keeps their slim survival hopes alive, moving them two points behind Auxerre in 16th position—the relegation-promotion playoff spot against the third-place team from Ligue 2.
