Big news for the New York Liberty—but not the kind fans were hoping for. Satou Sabally, the team's marquee offseason signing, will once again be sidelined when the Liberty take on the Portland Fire Tuesday night.

Sabally, who inked a two-year, $1.6 million deal with New York this past offseason, has yet to make her regular-season debut for the Liberty due to a lingering cyst. The three-time All-Star was expected to be a game-changer for New York after averaging 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds last season with the Phoenix Mercury—the very team that knocked the Liberty out of the playoffs in the opening round.

So far, Sabally has missed both preseason games and the first two regular-season contests. And according to the WNBA's latest injury report, she'll be out again for Tuesday night's matchup against Portland.

But here's the silver lining for Liberty fans: New York hasn't missed a beat. The team is off to a scorching 2-0 start, fueled largely by Breanna Stewart's MVP-caliber performance. Stewart is averaging 27 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, proving that even without their new star, the Liberty have plenty of firepower.

Adding to the injury list, Sabrina Ionescu will also remain out as she continues recovering from a foot injury sustained during a preseason win over the Connecticut Sun.

So while the Liberty faithful will have to wait a little longer to see Sabally in action, the team's depth and Stewart's dominance suggest New York is more than capable of holding down the fort. Tip-off against the Portland Fire is set for 10:00 p.m. EST Tuesday night.
