Liam Rosenior has just dropped his team news for the game against Brighton in an hour, and the Blues boss was asked about the absence of Cole Palmer from the squad.
“Cole’s had some tightness in his hamstring so he’s going to be out for this game and see how he moves on for this FA Cup semi-final,” the Chelsea boss said.
Given Palmer’s recent form, it’s not as big a blow as it could have been. But looking at how weak our lineup is tonight, we’d take anyone in there, no matter their form. There is almost nothing to rely on on the bench if we don’t start well.
Rosenior also had an update on Joao Pedro, who misses this game and already had missed Saturday’s clash with Man U after picking up a thigh injury:
“Joao Pedro will be good for Sunday. But this game [vs Brighton] is too close for him.”
Well, that’s some comfort. The question perhaps now is if Rosenior himself will make it to Sunday.
Chelsea’s team news for tonight’s game sees a change of formation which we can totally understand, in the circumstances.
In the build-up to this game, Levi Colwill did a big feature with the club about his injury and subsequent rehab.
