When Travis Hunter's rookie season was cut short by a non-contact knee injury during the bye week, the whispers started almost immediately. Could the two-way phenom really keep pulling double duty in the NFL? With the Jacksonville Jaguars adding wideout Jakobi Meyers and losing cornerback Greg Newsome II, many assumed the writing was on the wall: Hunter would focus on one side of the ball. Cornerback, right? He's done playing both ways... right?

"Absolutely not," Jaguars general manager James Gladstone told The Rich Eisen Show, shutting down that speculation with authority.

In fact, the Jaguars have bigger plans for their young star. Gladstone revealed that fans can actually expect to see an uptick in Hunter's cornerback usage this season. Last year, Hunter lined up more frequently at wide receiver than cornerback, but that balance is about to shift. "The cornerback percentile and count will go up as we move forward," Gladstone explained. "That's not to say anything impacts his availability and usage on offense. It just means that cornerback usage will increase."

The roster moves Jacksonville made this offseason are a key part of the equation. "We have a different defensive cornerback room, and the bodies are different than they were a year ago," Gladstone noted. "It's more fitting to slot him in at corner in a different way than it was at this time last year or even as the season progressed."

As for Hunter's health, Gladstone delivered some encouraging news. "He's in a good spot," the GM said. "He's out on the grass in a limited fashion here, and that'll be the case throughout the remainder of the offseason program. As we get into training camp, he'll be full go."

The Jaguars are particularly excited to build on the momentum Hunter generated in his breakout game against the Los Angeles Rams in London last season—a performance where he topped 100 receiving yards and found the end zone, all while still pulling duty on defense. For a player who thrives on being everywhere at once, it sounds like the best is yet to come.
