In a thrilling Sunday showdown, the Seattle Storm overcame a gritty Connecticut Sun squad 89-82, thanks to a lights-out performance from Lexie Brown. Brown drained five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, while Flau'jae Johnson added 16 points to help the Storm even their record at 1-1.

The game was a back-and-forth battle, with the Sun refusing to go quietly. Kennedy Burke's 3-pointer cut Seattle's lead to just one point, 80-79, with under four minutes to play. But Brown answered the call, driving to the hoop for a layup that sparked an 8-1 Storm run, sealing the victory with 54 seconds left.

Jade Melbourne provided a spark off the bench with 15 points and six assists, while Natisha Hiedeman chipped in 11 points. Dominique Malonga battled foul trouble but still made an impact with seven rebounds, six points, three blocks, and two steals in just 20 minutes.

For the Sun (0-2), Aneesah Morrow was a force, posting 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Brittney Griner added 16 points, and Diamond Miller contributed 13. Kennedy Burke stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. Newly signed Hailey Van Lith, who joined Connecticut just two days prior, added nine points and four assists off the bench in her debut.

In other WNBA action, the New York Liberty outlasted the Washington Mystics 96-92 in overtime. Marine Johannes caught fire from deep, hitting six 3-pointers and scoring 25 points. Breanna Stewart added 23 points and nine rebounds, while rookie Pauline Astier impressed with 18 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.

The Liberty appeared to have the game in hand after Johannes and Astier pushed the lead to six with under two minutes left in overtime, but Washington fought back to tie it at 92. Betnijah Laney-Hamilton's clutch free throws and Astier's ice-cold foul shots down the stretch secured the win for New York, who improved to 2-0.
