Robert Lewandowski has announced he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season when his contract expires, declaring his "mission is complete" after helping restore the Catalan giants to their former glory.

The 37-year-old Poland striker joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 and has been a prolific force, netting 119 goals in 191 appearances. During his three-year stint, he played a pivotal role in securing three La Liga titles, including this season's triumph, and the 2025 Copa del Rey.

"After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on," Lewandowski wrote on Instagram. "I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships."

While injuries have limited his game time this season—starting only 15 league matches—Lewandowski delivered when it mattered most. His goal in a crucial 2-1 win over Osasuna earlier this month helped set the stage for Barcelona's title-clinching run, and he made a late appearance in last weekend's Clásico victory over Real Madrid that sealed the championship.

Lewandowski's impact extends beyond the stat sheet. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, who previously coached the striker at Bayern Munich, praised his professionalism: "I've worked with Robert for years, and we won nine trophies together—all the titles I've won were with him. He's a perfect role model for young players, a fantastic human and a world-class player."

The forward's farewell tour continues this Sunday at the Spotify Camp Nou against Real Betis, with one final away match at Valencia to close the campaign. Flick has confirmed Lewandowski will start against Betis, giving fans one last chance to see the legend in action at home.

"Barca is back where it belongs," Lewandowski added. "I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth."

Interest from MLS side Chicago Fire, who confirmed talks with Lewandowski last December, suggests the striker's next chapter could take him across the Atlantic. But for now, Barcelona fans are soaking in every moment of his final days in Blaugrana.

The club paid a fitting tribute: "Thank you, Robert Lewandowski, for every goal, every fight, and every magical moment wearing these colours. He arrived as a star, he leaves as a legend."
