The uncertainty surrounding the Real Madrid bench is no longer just internal; it is now a talking point across Europe.

And at the centre of the latest debate is a familiar name – Massimiliano Allegri.

During his appearance at the Laureus World Sports Awards, Italy legend Leonardo Bonucci was asked about the managerial situation at Madrid and did not hesitate to put Allegri forward as a strong candidate.

Bonucci, who worked closely with Allegri during his time at Juventus, offered a detailed explanation of why he believes the Italian coach fits the Real Madrid profile so well.

“Because of the way he manages the dressing room and his understanding of the game, Allegri is a manager very much in line with Real Madrid’s style.

“He knows how to take the pressure off the players, allowing them to play with complete freedom,” said Bonucci, as per Mundo Deportivo.

He then expanded on that idea, focusing on the unique demands that come with managing Madrid.

“The Madrid shirt comes with significant pressure, and I think Allegri would be a good fit as Real Madrid manager because he is very similar to Ancelotti in the way he manages the dressing room.

“And if Ancelotti succeeded at Real Madrid, there is a good chance Allegri could do the same.”

It is a comparison that carries weight, as Carlo Ancelotti set a clear benchmark at Madrid and in Bonucci’s view, Allegri ticks those same boxes.

This comes at a time when the current project under Alvaro Arbeloa is under serious scrutiny.

Results have not matched expectations, and discussions over potential replacements are already underway.

Several high-profile names have been linked with the role, including Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino, both long admired within the club.

Didier Deschamps is another option believed to be under consideration. Now, with Bonucci publicly backing Allegri, the list gains another serious contender.
