The Blaze make it seven wins out of eight in the One-Day Cup with a three-wicket win over Hampshire.

The Blaze continue their dominant run in the One-Day Cup, securing a thrilling three-wicket victory over second-placed Hampshire at Trent Bridge. This win marks their seventh in eight matches, extending their lead at the top of the table to nine points—a testament to their stellar form this season.

Chasing a target of 210, the home side got off to a shaky start, losing opener Marie Kelly in just the third over to a swinging delivery from Daisy Gibb. But Tammy Beaumont stepped up with a composed 57, anchoring the innings alongside Kathryn Bryce, who contributed 32. The pair added 59 runs before Bryce fell leg before wicket attempting an audacious paddle-scoop.

Beaumont then partnered with Georgia Elwiss for a crucial 51-run stand, though Elwiss was caught at slip off a top-edged paddle-sweep. At 117-3 after 25 overs, The Blaze looked in control. However, Beaumont's dismissal—looping a full toss straight to mid-off—sparked a mini-collapse. England spinner Linsey Smith struck twice, bowling Sarah Bryce and trapping Orla Prendergast at extra cover, leaving the hosts wobbling at 162-6.

With 36 runs still needed, Kirstie Gordon fell for one, but Emma Jones held her nerve. The young batter smashed an unbeaten 37 off just 30 balls, including five boundaries, to guide her side home with 29 balls to spare. Lucy Higham provided steady support as the duo kept their cool under pressure.

Earlier, Hampshire captain Georgia Adams fought valiantly with 89, supported by Ella McCaughan's 48 and Francesca Sweet's unbeaten 35. But The Blaze's strike bowler Charley Phillips, just 23 and in sensational form, ripped through the visitors' lineup. She claimed 4-31, including two wickets in her opening over to reduce Hampshire to 2-2, and now leads the competition as the top wicket-taker with 18 scalps. Adams and McCaughan staged an impressive recovery, but Phillips' pace and precision proved too much as Hampshire were bowled out for 209.

This victory showcases The Blaze's depth and resilience, with contributions across the batting order and a bowling attack that continues to fire. As the season heats up, they look like the team to beat.
