In a thrilling comeback for the ages, the Lawrence County Red Devils punched their ticket to the state softball tournament for the first time since 2015, delivering a dramatic performance that will be remembered for years to come.

Trailing 8-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning on Thursday—the final day of regional play in Florence—the Red Devils refused to let their season end. With their backs against the wall, Lawrence County erupted for six runs in a stunning rally to defeat Ardmore 9-8, securing their spot as Class 5A's North Regional Qualifier 1.

Reagan Smith was the offensive spark, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Alivia Terry matched her teammate's production, also going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. McKinley McCaghren added two doubles and an RBI, while Ellie Stark and LA Norwood each chipped in with a run batted in.

For Ardmore, Fannon Broadway put together a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Brenley Dempsey drove in two runs, and Makena Hall added an RBI double. Kiki Embry also contributed two runs and an RBI in a losing effort.

Ardmore's season came to a close later that day with a 5-2 loss to Class 5A No. 2 Boaz in the losers bracket final. Fannon Broadway again led the way for Ardmore with a double and an RBI, going 2-for-4. Kadence Williams knocked in a run, while Sulivan Smith, Briley Lawhorn, and Kiki Embry each added a hit.

The Red Devils now set their sights on the state tournament next week in Oxford, bringing a roster full of confidence and a comeback story that has the entire community buzzing. For a team that hasn't seen state tournament action in nearly a decade, this moment is nothing short of extraordinary.
