The Las Vegas Raiders are bringing in all the talent they can, and this time, it was another Indiana player.

The Las Vegas Raiders are leaving no stone unturned this offseason, and their latest roster addition has a familiar ring to it. As rookie minicamp gets underway, the Silver and Black are bringing in yet another player with ties to quarterback Fernando Mendoza—this time, it's wide receiver Jonathan Brady.

Brady, a Las Vegas native who won a state title at powerhouse Bishop Gorman, has a strong history with Mendoza. The two were college teammates at both Cal and Indiana, where they connected for six receiving touchdowns over two seasons. That chemistry is exactly what the Raiders are hoping to tap into as they fill out the bottom of their roster.

This signing follows a pattern for Vegas, which has already brought in former Indiana Hoosiers Roman Hemby and EJ Williams as undrafted free agents. All three players have a shot at earning a roster spot or practice squad role, especially given their pre-existing rapport with Mendoza.

To make room for Brady, the Raiders placed wide receiver Justin Shorter on the Reserve/Injured list. It's a move that underscores the team's ongoing evaluation process, as they look to build depth behind a receiving corps that general manager Tom Spytek is already excited about.

"I like our WR room," Spytek recently said on the Kay Adams show. "I love Tre Tucker, we're excited about Jalen Nailor, we drafted Jack Bech in the second, we have belief in him, we drafted Dont'e Thornton in the fourth last year, we believe in him, I'm excited with Malik Benson."

With the top of the depth chart seemingly set, the Raiders are focused on the final few spots—and Brady brings more than just a hometown story. He posted solid numbers at New Mexico State, with 23 catches for 310 yards and three touchdowns in 2022, followed by 39 catches for 621 yards and four scores in 2023. His 15.9 yards per catch average that season shows he can stretch the field.

Will Brady's connection with Mendoza translate to the NFL? The Raiders are betting it's worth finding out. For a team looking to maximize every roster spot, a familiar target for their quarterback could be just the edge they need.
