LSU's 2025 season was defined by a glaring weakness: the offensive line. Despite individual talent, the unit struggled mightily, ranking near the bottom of the SEC in rushing efficiency and failing to provide consistent pass protection. For new head coach Lane Kiffin, fixing this trench warfare was job number one entering the offseason.
Kiffin moved swiftly, attacking the transfer portal and retaining key pieces while assembling a proven coaching staff. He hired Eric Wolford and James Cregg, both of whom have direct experience molding SEC championship-caliber offensive lines. This foundational work appears to be paying early dividends.
With spring practice underway, Kiffin offered an encouraging assessment, specifically highlighting the offensive line's progress. "I think that offensively (the offensive line) has probably developed the best through a couple of weeks," Kiffin said. "Has played well together and in my opinion has dramatically improved from when we got here. And so that's probably been the one bright spot."
That "bright spot" comment underscores the ongoing installation of a new scheme across a transfer-heavy offense, making the line's rapid cohesion even more significant. The unit is anchored by a major addition: left tackle Jordan Seaton, the top-ranked offensive lineman in the transfer portal. He's joined by returning center Braelin Moore, who brings valuable experience from last year's campaign.
While the entire offense remains a work in progress, a fortified offensive line is the essential first step. It's the engine for any successful attack, creating running lanes and buying time for playmakers. For LSU fans dreaming of a return to offensive dominance, hearing Kiffin affirm that "the offensive line is coming along really well" is a very promising start to a new era in Baton Rouge.
