On a picture-perfect Tuesday at Logger Stadium in Libby, the Eureka Lions roared to a team victory at the Lincoln County Meet, thanks in large part to a historic performance from senior Josh Lambertsen. With five individual wins, Lambertsen single-handedly propelled his team to the boys' title, edging out a strong challenge from the host Loggers.

The Lions finished with 86 points, just enough to hold off Libby's 79-point effort, while the Troy Trojans rounded out the scoring with 15 points. Lambertsen was the star of the show, setting a new meet record in the 400-meter run with a blistering time of 49.75 seconds—shattering the previous mark of 50.65 set by Libby's Jay Beagle back in 2021. But he wasn't done there. The versatile senior also soared to victory in the high jump (6-0) and pole vault (12-0), showcasing the kind of all-around athleticism that makes him a threat at any event.

Eureka's depth was on full display as they won 12 of the 17 events on the day. However, the Loggers had their own standout performers. Senior Tristan Andersen and junior Cody Watson each captured two individual titles. Watson dominated the distance events, winning both the 1,600 and 3,200 runs—events where he's already punched his ticket to the Class A state meet. Andersen, meanwhile, showed his strength and agility by taking first in the javelin (151 feet, 9 inches) and the long jump (19-2 1/4), while also finishing second in the long jump and third in the 100 meters.

Libby's future looks bright, too, with sophomore Porter Hollingsworth posting a personal best in the triple jump (38 feet, 2 1/2 inches) to claim victory. Junior Ledger Fortner was a model of consistency, placing second in four separate events: the 100, 200, 400, and long jump. Senior Gabe Kosters added valuable points with a third-place finish in the 200 and javelin, while senior Urijah Bache took second in the javelin and third in the pole vault.

For the Troy Trojans, junior Michael Gillespie was a bright spot, finishing second in the 200 and triple jump, and third in the long jump. Fellow junior Conner Powell also made his mark, taking second in both the shot put and discus.

With the Lincoln County Meet in the rearview mirror, both Libby and Troy will turn their attention to the Archie Roe Meet at Kalispell this Saturday—another chance to fine-tune their performances before the postseason heats up.
