The details were different, but the story of Saturday's Game 3 between the Lakers and Thunder played out all too familiarly. Just like in the previous two matchups in Oklahoma City, the Lakers started strong and even held a halftime lead—reminiscent of Thursday's Game 2. But once again, they ran out of steam against the Thunder, falling 131-108 in Los Angeles. It was their worst loss of the series, putting them just one defeat away from postseason elimination.

The Thunder dominated the second half, outscoring the Lakers 74-49. Despite combining for 17 assists, LeBron James (19 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds) and Austin Reaves (17 points, 9 rebounds) both struggled. Reaves (5) and James (3) accounted for eight of the Lakers' 17 turnovers, which the Thunder converted into 30 points. Meanwhile, Rui Hachimura (21 points on 7-of-14 shooting) and Luke Kennard (18 points on 7-of-10 shooting) provided a combined 39 points, but it wasn't enough to keep the Lakers in the game.

For the Thunder, Ajay Mitchell led the charge with 24 points, 10 assists, and 4 rebounds. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled from the field (7-for-20 shooting) but still finished with 23 points, 9 assists, and 4 rebounds. The turning point came when Isaiah Joe nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to close the third quarter, pushing the Thunder's lead to 90-79. The Lakers briefly cut the deficit to five with a 7-0 run, but Joe's open pull-up and corner three restored an 11-point cushion. From there, the Thunder led by double digits for the entire fourth quarter.

The Lakers now trail 3-0 in the best-of-seven second-round series, and history is not on their side: no NBA team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in a playoff series. As the Lakers face elimination, fans are left wondering if their team can find the spark to keep their postseason hopes alive.
