Los Angeles came out flat and never recovered in a disappointing effort at home.

LAFC's hopes of a bounce-back performance at home turned into a frustrating evening as the Black and Gold fell 4-1 to Houston Dynamo FC on Sunday at BMO Stadium. The loss marks consecutive defeats for Los Angeles, who have now conceded four goals in each of those matches, dropping to 6-3-3 on the season.

From the opening whistle, LAFC looked a step slow—a concern that has lingered as the club navigates a grueling early-season schedule. Houston capitalized on that fatigue, with Jack McGlynn scoring his first two goals of 2026 to lead the Dynamo to just their second road victory of the campaign.

"It's clear that we dominated possession and were on their half the majority of the game," said head coach Marc Dos Santos. "But every time we lost the ball, it seemed like we didn't have the capacity to deal with their three players in transition. When you're at this moment in the season where we've given so much physically, there's lapses of quality and concentration that were missing."

The match started quietly for the first 25 minutes before McGlynn stunned the home crowd with a left-footed rocket from beyond the box. Just nine minutes later, Guilherme Augusto's free kick found its way past Hugo Lloris to make it 2-0, putting LAFC in an early hole they could never climb out of.

Playing without leading scorer Denis Bouanga due to yellow card accumulation, LAFC needed someone to step up. Nathan Ordaz answered the call in the 45th minute, meeting Jacob Shaffelburg's cross toward the middle of the box and redirecting it past Houston goalkeeper Jonathan Bond for his third goal across all competitions. It pulled the Black and Gold within one just before halftime and gave the home fans a glimmer of hope.

But that momentum was short-lived. Houston came out firing in the second half, adding two more goals to put the match out of reach. The final scoreline—4-1—was a harsh reminder of the gap between possession and production.

Ordaz acknowledged that the team's packed schedule through the first few months has taken a physical toll on the roster. But he made it clear that's no excuse for the result.

"If you're playing more games, you're going to be more tired. That's just a fact," he said. "It's true that we have played more games, but we still have to come out and compete. We might be tired, but we're not 4-1 tired."

For LAFC, the challenge now is to shake off the fatigue and find their rhythm again before the schedule lets up. With a talented roster and plenty of season left, the Black and Gold will need to dig deep to avoid letting this slump define their campaign.
