Tennessee junior softball player Sage Mardjetko was named SEC Pitcher of the Week when the league announced its weekly awards on Tuesday.
Mardjetko is the third Lady Vol to earn SEC Pitcher of the Week honors, joining Karlyn Pickens and Erin Nuwer.
She pitched a one-hit shutout in Tennessee's, 2-0, victory over No. 3 Alabama on Sunday. She pitched seven innings, allowing three walks and recorded six strikeouts.
Mardjetko (11-1) also earned a win in Tennessee's, 2-1, victory over Radford on April 21. She pitched 5.1 innings and allowed one unearned run, two hits and three walks. Mardjetko recorded 10 strikeouts.
She is 5-1 in SEC play with an 0.95 ERA. Mardjetko pitched three complete games, including two shutouts. She has allowed 10 runs and 14 walks, while recording 53 strikeouts in 51.1 innings during SEC games.
Mardjetko's performance against the Crimson Tide marked the first time Alabama was shut out this season, helping the Lady Vols win the series.
