The future is now for Texas legend Rori Harmon. The cornerstone of the Lady Longhorns' resurgence has officially taken her talents to the professional level, selected by the Washington Mystics with the 34th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Harmon leaves Austin as one of the most decorated and impactful players in program history. A five-year stalwart at point guard, she was the engine for a Texas team that reached two consecutive Final Fours, finishing her career with a staggering 137-20 record. Her final season averages of 8.4 points, 6.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game only tell part of the story; she was a true two-way force, setting the program's all-time assists record with 977.
Head coach Vic Schaefer, who built a national contender around Harmon's tenacity, perhaps described her best during the Final Four. "(She’ll) guard your ass at the city limit and show you the door when she’s done with you," Schaefer said, emphasizing her irreplaceable defensive intensity and leadership. "We may never replace her."
For the Washington Mystics, this pick represents tremendous value. They are getting a proven winner, a floor general with elite vision, and a defensive disruptor ready to contribute from day one. Harmon's journey from Houston to Texas stardom has prepared her for this next chapter, and the WNBA is about to learn what Longhorn fans have known for years: Rori Harmon is a competitor of the highest order.
