The Batesville Lady Bulldogs kicked off their regular season in commanding fashion, securing a decisive 4-1 victory over Union County on the tennis courts.
Leading the charge was Ava Walsman at No. 1 singles, who delivered a strong performance with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Cassidee McCashland. The No. 3 singles match saw Addie Fledderman add another point for Batesville, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-4. The lone setback came in a hard-fought No. 2 singles match, where Aurora Mertz fell in a third-set tiebreaker.
The Bulldogs truly dominated in doubles play. The top pair of Grace Walter and Grace Gutzwiller cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while the No. 2 duo of Liv Maddock and Maddie Haskamp were flawless, posting an impressive 6-0, 6-0 shutout to seal the team win.
Beyond the varsity scoreline, the future looks bright for Batesville, as the junior varsity squad swept all five of their matches, showcasing the program's impressive depth and promising talent pipeline.
