La Salle and undefeated Chariho remain atop the Division I rankings as the regular season winds down.

As the regular season winds down and playoff intensity heats up, two familiar names are rising to the top of Division I softball: La Salle and undefeated Chariho. But don't count out the rest of the pack just yet—especially after the Rams delivered a powerful statement on May 13.

On a breezy Wednesday afternoon at McLaughlin Field, La Salle sent a clear message to North Kingstown and the rest of the league: the title race still runs through them. The Skippers came in hoping to crash the two-team conversation, but the Rams had other plans, rolling to an 11-1 victory in just six innings.

It was a game defined by big moments and even bigger swings. Elle Kershaw set the tone early with a key defensive play, and then Kayleigh Ventura put the game out of reach with a fourth-inning grand slam that cleared the fence and the leaping glove of North Kingstown's right fielder. The blast turned a 4-1 lead into a commanding 9-1 advantage, and the Rams never looked back.

Senior Day added extra emotion to the afternoon, as La Salle honored a four-player class that has already captured three consecutive championships. These Rams aren't ready to pass the torch—not to Chariho, not to anyone. Hailey Vigneau continued her dominant run in the circle, improving her career record to an incredible 63-4, including a perfect 12-0 mark when it matters most: the postseason.

"We've lost a few games, but we know what we need to do," Kershaw said. "We're prepared for anything."

With the playoffs approaching, that kind of confidence—and a lineup capable of erupting at any moment—makes La Salle a dangerous opponent for anyone. Whether you're a fan, a player, or just love the game, this is the kind of team you want to watch. And maybe, wear. After all, championship energy starts with the right gear.
