Two seasons after the Knicks sent Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and a first-round pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns is finally delivering on the promise the front office saw in him. And he's doing it in spectacular fashion.

The Knicks just swept the Philadelphia 76ers with a dominant 144-114 victory, punching their second straight ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals. It's their sixth win in a row, and the timing is no coincidence. Since the team shifted its offense to run through Towns, everything has clicked. He's been the NBA's best playmaker in these playoffs, and the numbers back it up.

"We found a way to stabilize our season and adjust to put ourselves in a better position," Towns said after the Knicks' hostile takeover of Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena. "Credit to the coaching staff for making the adjustments. And credit to me, too, for earning their trust."

Towns leads all playoff performers in assists per possession, racking up 66 dimes in just 285 minutes. To put that in perspective, stars like LeBron James, James Harden, and Jalen Brunson have each dished 61 or more assists—but they needed over 347 minutes to get there. Towns is doing more with less time on the floor.

Since the Knicks' Game 4 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, Towns is averaging 15 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 1.3 blocks, and a steal—all while playing just 25.8 minutes per game, thanks to foul trouble and a few blowout wins.

This version of Towns seemed almost impossible just months ago. After a rocky first full season under head coach Tom Brown, where his scoring, shooting efficiency, and usage all dipped, he looked like an afterthought. But now, he's become the lever Brown pulled to transform the Knicks into a championship contender. In the blink of an eye, the offense runs through Towns as its primary hub, and New York has never looked more dangerous.
