Virat Kohli hit a brilliant unbeaten 105 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets to move top of the Indian Premier League table. Opening the batting, the 37-year-old struck 11 fours and three sixes in his 60-ball innings as RCB chased down their target of 193 with five balls to spare. Kohli, who was dismissed for ducks in his two previous innings but is still averaging over 50 for the fourth consecutive year, lost opening partner Jacob Bethell for 15 when he was caught and bowled by Kartik Tyagi.

It was vintage Kohli at his absolute best. The 37-year-old maestro, who had endured two consecutive ducks in his previous outings, silenced the doubters in emphatic fashion with a stunning unbeaten 105 off just 60 balls. His innings was a masterclass in controlled aggression, featuring 11 boundaries and three towering sixes that sent the Chinnaswamy Stadium into a frenzy.

Chasing a challenging 193, RCB got off to a shaky start when opening partner Jacob Bethell fell for 15, caught and bowled by the impressive Kartik Tyagi. But what followed was a partnership that shifted the momentum entirely. Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal (37) stitched together a crucial 92-run stand, with Padikkal playing the perfect supporting role before being dismissed by Tyagi.

Even when Tyagi struck again to remove Tim David (3-32), the damage was already done. RCB needed just 13 runs off the final 13 balls, and Kohli made sure there was no drama. He brought up his first century of the season off 58 deliveries, and fittingly, it was Jitesh Sharma who sealed the win with a boundary, with five balls to spare.

Earlier, KKR had posted a competitive 192-4 after being put in to bat. The young Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the star for the Knight Riders, smashing 71 off 46 balls from the number three position. He found solid support from Cameron Green (32) and the explosive Rinku Singh, who remained unbeaten on 49. But it wasn't enough to stop the Kohli show.

This victory not only showcased Kohli's enduring class but also propelled the defending champions RCB to the top of the IPL table, leapfrogging Gujarat Titans on net run-rate. For KKR, it's back to the drawing board as their four-match winning streak came to a crashing halt, leaving them languishing in eighth place.
