If you've been following Washington Huskies football this spring, you've likely heard the name Kodi Greene—and for good reason. The true freshman left tackle is turning heads, and not just because of his five-star pedigree or his dominant high school career at Mater Dei in Southern California. According to former Penn State offensive lineman Landon Tengwall, Greene's elite traits are already on full display at the college level.

Throughout spring practice, Greene took every first-team snap at left tackle, showing he physically belongs in the Big Ten. But what's really impressed offensive line coach Michael Switzer is Greene's mental game. "He's talented in terms of his athleticism and his ability to play the game of football, but what I'd say is most impressive is what he's doing in the film room," Switzer said. "How he's understanding defenses, how he's communicating with the offensive line. He's taken it very serious since the day he got here, and it's showing."

During the Dawgs After Dark spring game, Tengwall broke down Greene's film and highlighted a trait that separates elite linemen from the rest: recovery. "The biggest thing I saw in pass protection is his ability to recover," Tengwall said on his College Football Show. "That's a trait that I value almost more than anything. You're going to see the raw power from a guy that's only been in a college weight room for a couple months, so it's all only going to get so much better."

Of course, transitioning from high school—even from the ultra-competitive Trinity League—to the Big Ten is no small feat. Greene lost a few reps early in camp as he adjusted to the jump in speed and power. But his combination of strength and high-level athleticism allows him to win battles even after it looks like he's been beaten. In a first-quarter rep during the spring game, Tengwall noted exactly that: Greene's ability to recover and finish strong when it matters most.

For Huskies fans, the future at left tackle looks bright. And for anyone who loves seeing raw talent paired with a relentless work ethic, Kodi Greene is a name you'll want to remember.
