Manchester United's rising star Kobbie Mainoo has finally opened up about the pre-match rituals fueling his remarkable resurgence at Old Trafford, revealing that calmness is the secret weapon behind his standout performances this season.

After finding himself firmly out of favor under former manager Ruben Amorim—who preferred the underwhelming Manuel Ugarte in midfield—Mainoo's career at United looked to be hitting a dead end. The Portuguese boss even became defensive when questioned about the 21-year-old's lack of playing time, sparking rumors that the academy graduate was considering a loan move away from the club.

But everything changed when Michael Carrick stepped in as interim head coach. Since then, Mainoo has started every single match, forming a brilliant midfield partnership with veteran Casemiro. His turnaround has been so dramatic that he's now virtually guaranteed a spot in England's World Cup squad this summer, and he recently signed a new contract committing his future to the club.

So what's behind the young midfielder's composure on the pitch? It all starts with his pre-match routine.

Speaking ahead of United's final home game against Nottingham Forest, Mainoo revealed that his preparation is surprisingly flexible. "I don't have a set thing of 'I have to eat this', but just whatever I'm feeling," he explained. "If I feel I need a bit more energy, or if I think it's going to be a tough and long game in terms of running volume, then it's more carby."

The 21-year-old also shared one constant in his routine: "Pre-match, I always have a beetroot shot. It's good for me, it makes me feel good. And a couple of carb drinks."

That calm, adaptable approach mirrors Mainoo's style on the pitch—composed, measured, and always in control. For fans and aspiring young players alike, it's a reminder that sometimes the best preparation is simply staying relaxed and trusting your instincts.
