When Kit Wilson lost his tag team partner Elton Prince to a serious neck injury, he didn't just lose a teammate—he lost half his identity. For years, the duo known as Pretty Deadly had been inseparable, moving through every career milestone together from their earliest days in wrestling all the way to WWE. Suddenly, Wilson was facing the ring alone for the first time, and the reality hit hard.
"I don't think I ever truly realized how much of a security blanket and a safety net we were for each other, until we didn't have each other," Wilson admitted. "We were rocking and rolling as a team, and then not to have that was very foreign. It was very scary."
But once the initial shock and anxiety subsided, Wilson saw an unexpected opportunity. Instead of trying to preserve Pretty Deadly exactly as it was, he made a bold choice: he reinvented himself. By leaning into hidden layers of his character that fans had never seen before, Wilson transformed his solo run into one of WWE's most compelling acts of the year.
"The silver lining, the beauty in it all, it forced me to look at myself and to think about these things," Wilson explained. "I'm pushing hard in this singles run and doing better than ever because I've got no choice. This is now on me. I have to do this for myself and for Elton. Otherwise, there's no Pretty Deadly to come back."
While Wilson's solo success has been impressive, he remains grounded about Prince's recovery. The injury is serious enough that a return to the ring is still uncertain, and Wilson doesn't shy away from that reality. "We have a long road of recovery, and it's still a bit of a question of whether he will return to the ring. It's a serious injury. So I hope he does. I want him to come back."
Looking ahead, Wilson sees this as the foundation for an even stronger Pretty Deadly reunion. Every match he wins, every fan he wins over, is raising the profile for when—and if—his partner returns. "Hopefully I've raised the profile enough that it'll be a bigger and better Pretty Deadly. I think we're going to be just a different animal. I don't even fully know what that is. I think we'll very much surprise people."
For fans of WWE and sports apparel alike, Wilson's journey is a powerful reminder that sometimes the best comebacks start with reinvention. Whether you're rebuilding a tag team or refreshing your wardrobe, it's about finding the strength to evolve—and the courage to step into the ring alone.
