Marquette women's basketball has secured a significant late addition to its roster for the upcoming season. Head coach Cara Consuegra has landed a commitment from Kinley Asp, a dynamic 5'11" point guard from Colorado, who will join the Golden Eagles as an incoming freshman.

This move addresses a critical need for Marquette. After a coaching change and with four players entering the transfer portal, Consuegra faced a wide-open roster with six available spots. Asp's commitment provides an immediate boost of talent and depth to a team looking to build a new foundation.

Asp arrives with an impressive high school pedigree. A proven winner, she captured two Colorado state championships during her freshman and sophomore years at Colorado Springs Christian. She was far from a role player in those victories, putting up 29 points in both title games. For her senior season at Air Academy High School, she posted stellar averages of 25.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.4 steals per game, showcasing her all-around ability.

Interestingly, Asp was originally committed to Boston College but reopened her recruitment after a coaching change. Her proven scoring ability in high-pressure playoff situations—she holds the Colorado career playoff scoring record, surpassing recent WNBA top-five pick Lauren Betts—suggests she could make an immediate impact in the Big East.

With Asp on board, Marquette's projected roster for the 2025-26 season now stands at six players. Her commitment is a key first step for Coach Consuegra in reshaping the team's identity and competitiveness for the future.
