Mercedes' young sensation Kimi Antonelli is on an absolute tear, and the fifth running of the Miami Grand Prix proved to be his latest masterpiece. The 19-year-old prodigy made it a hat-trick of victories, defeating reigning World Champion Lando Norris in a straight fight under the sweltering Florida sun. Here's how he did it.

It wasn't all smooth sailing from the start. Antonelli, starting from pole, made another slow getaway and lost the lead to Charles Leclerc. To make matters worse, he then slipped to third behind Norris. But this is where the young gun showed his maturity. Both Antonelli and Norris worked their way past Leclerc, setting up a thrilling duel between the Mercedes and McLaren stars.

The decisive moment came in the pits. Mercedes called Antonelli in a lap earlier than McLaren did for Norris, switching from medium to hard compound tires. The undercut worked perfectly: Antonelli emerged narrowly ahead of Norris and never looked back. Despite a brief gearbox scare, he managed to eke out a comfortable buffer in the closing stages, crossing the line to claim his third straight win from pole position. In doing so, he became the first driver in history to win his first three races from his first three pole positions.

"For me, that was his best race so far," said Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. "It reminds me of his karting days, or Formula 4—there were no mistakes today."

The victory extends Antonelli's lead in the title race to 20 points, but the young Italian remains grounded. "Obviously we're living a good moment," he said. "But as I said before, it's still a very long season, and there's so many things that can change."

For Norris, second place marked his first grand prix podium since clinching the 2025 title in Abu Dhabi, following his Sprint Race win on Saturday. But the reigning champion couldn't hide his mixed emotions. "We leave Miami with mixed feelings," Norris said. "As a team, we should be proud—two cars on the podium—but we had the chance to win, and we missed it."

As the F1 circus packs up and heads to the next round, one thing is clear: Kimi Antonelli is not just a rising star—he's a force to be reckoned with. And for fans of the sport, this is just the beginning of what promises to be an epic season.
