Florida State is making a strong impression on one of its top tight end targets for the 2027 recruiting cycle. Three-star prospect Carter Blackwell, who received an offer from the Seminoles back in March, has nothing but praise for the program as his official visit schedule heats up.
Blackwell, a 6-foot-4, 224-pound athlete from Lee County High School in Georgia, will visit Florida State on June 5. This trip comes just after he checks out Clemson on May 29, and it will be followed by official visits to Duke on June 12 and UCF on June 19. But when it comes to what stands out about FSU, the young tight end didn't hold back.
"The brotherhood they create within their players is special," Blackwell told Noles247. "It really is. It's not something you see in a lot of places. They're all kind of like family. It's like they've known each other their whole life. I think that's really important, especially even in the tight end room. Coach Thomsen, he's a great coach."
That kind of endorsement speaks volumes, especially coming from a player who already has a packed visit schedule. According to 247Sports composite rankings, Blackwell is rated as the No. 846 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 42 tight end in his class, and the No. 99 player in the state of Georgia. His junior season stats back up the hype—he hauled in 24 receptions for 438 yards and five touchdowns, showing versatility by also lining up at wide receiver, fullback, and even long snapper.
The Seminoles are looking to build depth at tight end in the 2027 cycle, and they already have a commitment from three-star recruit Connor Winn of Jacksonville, Florida. Landing Blackwell would give them a solid one-two punch at the position, and with his official visit just around the corner, the momentum is clearly in FSU's favor.
