The Kentucky Wildcats' baseball game against the Northern Kentucky Norse, originally scheduled for May 12, has been canceled—and there won't be a makeup date.
The decision, announced by UK on May 11, was a mutual agreement between both teams. "Tuesday night’s game vs. NKU is cancelled in a mutual decision by both teams," the Wildcats stated. "Our team faced multiple extended delays over the weekend, extensive travel days and challenging rest and recovery periods. We play a critically important conference series beginning Thursday that demands putting our student-athletes in the best position possible for success."
This move highlights the grueling nature of college baseball, where packed schedules and travel can take a toll on players. For Kentucky, the priority is clear: they're gearing up for a pivotal three-game conference series against Arkansas, starting May 14 at home. That's a matchup that could have major postseason implications, so resting up makes sense.
Fans who bought single-game tickets for the canceled NKU game won't be left in the lurch. The school says they can contact the UK ticket office to swap their tickets for another regular season home game in 2026, based on availability.
Meanwhile, the Norse aren't sitting idle—they're set to hit the road later in the week for games against Elon and USC Upstate.
It's a tough break for fans hoping to catch some midweek action, but in the world of college baseball, sometimes you have to sacrifice a game to win the war. For Kentucky, that war starts Thursday against the Razorbacks.
