According to a report from KSR's Matt Jones, Kentucky is expected to secure a pledge from either Syracuse transfer Donnie Freeman or Colorado transfer Sebastian Rancik, barring any last-minute surprises. This potential addition is a crucial step for Coach Mark Pope as he continues to construct his roster for the upcoming season.

The focus is on Donnie Freeman, a dynamic 6-foot-9 forward who visited Lexington earlier this week. After averaging 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Orange, his athleticism and scoring touch would be an immediate asset. With a planned visit to UConn now canceled, Kentucky appears to be in a strong position alongside St. John's in the race for his services.

The alternative is Sebastian Rancik, a 6-foot-11 sophomore from Colorado who offers a different but equally valuable skill set. Rancik, who just concluded his own visit to Kentucky, is a versatile big man who averaged 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds while showcasing an ability to stretch the floor, shooting 33.1% from beyond the arc last season.

Whichever player chooses Kentucky, he will provide a major boost at the power forward spot.
