After a two-decade absence from the Kentucky high school sidelines, a familiar face is returning to the helm. Curtis Higgins, who last coached for Trigg County from 1999 to 2006, has been hired once again as the head football coach of the Wildcats.

Higgins isn't just coming back to any program; he's returning to build upon his own legacy. During his first stint, he compiled an impressive 69-26 overall record, which still stands as the highest winning percentage (.726) in school history. His teams were known for their consistency and success, regularly playing deep into the postseason. "When I was here the first time, we played in November all the time," Higgins noted, highlighting the standard he hopes to restore.

His return comes at a pivotal moment for Trigg County football. The Wildcats finished the 2025 season with a 2-7 record, a far cry from their former glory. For Higgins, this is a homecoming in the truest sense. Having become a permanent member of the community, he sees this as a chance to contribute. "I’m a member of this community now, and I want to do things to help our community," he said, emphasizing his personal investment in the team's revival.

While the challenge is significant, Higgins' proven track record offers a beacon of hope for Wildcats fans. His mission is clear: to reignite the program's competitive fire and return Trigg County to its winning ways, one Friday night at a time.
