Tawanda Muyeye, Chris Benjamin and Ben Dawkins post half-centuries as Kent rally on day two of their Division Two clash at Bristol.

Kent staged a spirited fightback on day two of their Division Two clash against Gloucestershire at Bristol's Seat Unique Stadium, with three half-centuries putting the visitors within striking distance of first-innings parity.

Tawanda Muyeye led the charge with a commanding 90 off 141 balls, while Chris Benjamin remained unbeaten on 74 and Ben Dawkins contributed a career-best 65 as Kent reached 308-8 in reply to Gloucestershire's 325. The hosts' seamer Will Williams impressed with figures of 4-40 from 21 overs, including a stunning run out, but Kent's lower order had other ideas.

At 245-8, Kent still trailed by 80 runs and looked set for a significant deficit. However, Benjamin and Keith Dudgeon (30 not out) combined for an unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 63 in the closing overs, frustrating the home side and keeping Kent's hopes alive.

The day began in hazy sunshine with Kent resuming on 1-0, but early trouble struck when Zak Crawley inside-edged onto his stumps off Gabe Bell. Nightwatchman Michael Cohen survived a dropped catch on 12 but soon fell to Williams, who then produced the delivery of the morning—nipping back off the seam to bowl Sam Northeast—leaving Kent reeling at 39-3.

Dawkins quickly found his rhythm, cracking two boundaries off Ben Charlesworth's first over, while Muyeye punished leg-spinner Ed Middleton with consecutive pulled fours. The pair steadied the ship, reaching lunch at 99-3 with Dawkins on 45 and Muyeye on 31.

The afternoon session saw Dawkins bring up his half-century off 99 balls, featuring nine fours, while Muyeye reached his milestone in 88 deliveries with eight boundaries. Dawkins was given a life on 59 when Ollie Price dropped his second catch of the innings, a moment that could prove costly as the match heads into day three.
