Kenny Moore II’s impact with the Colts went beyond the field

The Colts are losing a great teammate and even better person.

Kenny Moore II was the kind of player teammates call "lightning in a bottle." That moment says it all: during the Colts' postseason push featured on Hard Knocks, head coach Frank Reich announced Moore II had made the Pro Bowl, and the locker room erupted. His teammates went wild—not just because he earned the honor, but because that's exactly the kind of teammate he was.

But Moore II's greatness never stopped at the sideline. He may have been beloved on West 56th Street, but away from the game, he was an even better person.

A three-time nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, Moore II's character spoke volumes. He visited Riley Children's Hospital over 40 times, building a close friendship with Mason Garvey, a young boy battling Stage 4 Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. You might remember the moment Mason ran onto the field with Moore II in 2019—a friendship that brought light to the Garvey family's darkest days.

His impact didn't stop there. In 2022, Moore II founded the Love One Foundation, dedicated to providing resources and joy to underprivileged children. When his hometown of Valdosta, Georgia, was hit by a hurricane, his foundation delivered 13,000 meals to those affected. He repeated that effort after Hurricanes Idalia and Helene. Add a summer football program and fundraisers like a celebrity softball game, and you get a sense of what Moore II brought to his community.

He also spent time at Cardinal Ritter High School, talking with students about life skills and mental health, mentoring them to stay on the right track. Getting kids tickets to home games was another way he gave them special memories—and a chance to simply enjoy life.

The list goes on and on. Kenny Moore II was a great player for the Colts, and he'll be sorely missed on the field and in the locker room by coaches and teammates alike. But the best part? His work in the community will continue. His football journey may be taking a new turn, but his vision for making a difference is just getting started.
