Montana women's basketball is adding some serious local talent to its roster, and it's a homecoming story that's sure to excite Lady Griz fans. Flathead High School alum and former Bravettes star Kennedy Moore is coming back to the Treasure State, committing to the University of Montana after two seasons in the ACC with Wake Forest.
Moore, a 6-foot-2 forward, entered the transfer portal on March 31 and made her decision official via Instagram this week. During her sophomore campaign with the Demon Deacons, she appeared in 54 total games, averaging 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest while earning 10 starts. She flashed her scoring potential with a career-high 15 points against Morgan State.
Her return is a major boost for a Lady Griz program looking to rebuild after a challenging 9-22 season that ended with a second-round loss to rival Montana State in the Big Sky Conference Tournament. Moore is a proven winner from her high school days, having led the Bravettes to the 2023 state championship game and earning two All-State selections.
She's not the only new face bringing championship pedigree to Missoula. Moore is one of four key transfers joining the squad, including Huntley Project standout Paige Lofing, who is transferring back home from Gonzaga after helping the Red Devils win a Class B state title in 2025. The Lady Griz are also adding guard Shay Shippen from Columbia and Dom Nesland from High Point, signaling a focused effort to reload the roster with experienced talent.
For Montana fans, the sight of a homegrown star like Kennedy Moore returning to wear the maroon and silver is a powerful narrative as the team prepares for the upcoming season. It's a move that blends local pride with a clear intent to compete in the Big Sky.
