Wells crushed a first-pitch, 230-foot homer to give Oklahoma a 1-0 lead at Love's Field on Friday. The big fly — her 35th — sets a new single-season OU record. Wells previously tied Jocelyn Alo’s 34 last weekend.
The homer also set a new NCAA single-season team record as it was the Sooners’ 162nd of the season.
The Bogart, Georgia, native set a new NCAA Division I softball record for home runs as a freshman when she hit her 31st two weekends ago at Texas.
Arizona's Lauren Espinoza holds the overall single-season record with 37 home runs in 1995.
