Kelly delivered the game's biggest moment in the seventh inning, lacing a tiebreaking single through the infield with the bases loaded to put the Cubs ahead 5-4. He wasn't done there—adding a two-run double in a four-run eighth that stretched the lead to 10-4. The catcher finished 3-for-5, providing the offensive spark Chicago needed in front of a sellout crowd of 38,723, the White Sox's first home sellout of the season.

The Cubs built leads of 1-0 and 4-1, but the White Sox battled back each time. Colson Montgomery and Miguel Vargas each crushed solo home runs to keep Chicago's South Siders within striking distance.
