BATTLE CREEK — Every team dreams of being No. 1, but for Kellogg Community College baseball, that dream has just become a reality—at least on paper.

In the final rankings of the season, the Bruins have been named the top team in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II baseball poll. It's a historic milestone for the program, marking the first time KCC has ever claimed the No. 1 spot.

"That's the first time we've been that high. We've been ranked three, four, five. But we've never been ranked No. 1," said KCC head coach Eric Laskovy, reflecting on the team's steady climb through the ranks.

While the ranking is a huge achievement, the Bruins have their sights set on something even bigger: proving they're No. 1 on the diamond, not just in the polls. With the World Series on the horizon later this season, KCC has a golden opportunity to back up the ranking with a championship run.

The Bruins have been on a tear this season, dominating opponents and building momentum heading into the postseason. Players like sophomores Jake Stickler, Caleb Kidd, Tylor Morehouse, Payton Bookwalter, and Ricky Hamm, along with freshman Cayden Nieto, have been key contributors to the team's success.

For KCC, being No. 1 is more than just a number—it's a statement. And with the World Series ahead, the Bruins are ready to prove they belong at the top.
