What was it about Jordyn Tyson that convinced the New Orleans Saints to pick in him in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft? It turns out that a lot of Tyson's positive qualities as a prospect came together to build a scouting report that was too strong to ignore, at least the way Saints head coach Kellen Moore tells it. Moore shared some insight to the process that led to Tyson becoming the eighth overall pick during a Wednesday appearance on the Rich Eisen Show.
Once the Saints were comfortable with Tyson's medical checks, everything else fell in place: "Obviously everyone put a lot of stock into the injuries that occurred in his college career. But we really enjoyed his film and the more time we spent around him in this draft process, we really enjoyed that, and feel he'll be a great guy to put in that receiver room. We're building a strength in that receiver room."

"His versatility I think is huge. He can play all over the field, he plays a number of spots. His release plan, his ability to attack the football. He just does everything right. He comes in this league and he knows he's got to grow and get better. I love even his willingness to get into blocking on the perimeter. We got the right kind of guy."
It's good to hear that Tyson is already working on cleaning up the weaknesses in his game; he's a willing blocker and can pick up yards after the catch, but he isn't quite as physical as you'd expect from someone coached by the great Hines Ward. Still, it says a lot that Tyson would be the first to tell you that, and that he's eager to round out his game. The expectation is for him to compliment Chris Olave on top of the receiving corps. If Tyson can clear those hurdles, the reality may lead to an even bigger role for him.
