Katherine Legge will be the first woman to complete a double, racing the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, she announced Wednesday.

History is about to be made at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Katherine Legge, a 45-year-old veteran driver, has announced she will become the first woman to attempt motorsport's ultimate endurance challenge: racing both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

This monumental double-header, scheduled for May 24, will see Legge compete in the iconic IndyCar event at the Brickyard before flying to North Carolina to tackle the NASCAR Cup Series marathon under the lights. "Very few drivers ever get the opportunity to attempt 'The Double,' and I do not take that opportunity lightly," Legge said in a statement. "This challenge is about pushing through perceived limits, betting on yourself, taking risks and trying to do something unique."

Legge will join an elite club of just five drivers who have attempted this grueling feat: Kyle Larson, Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, Robby Gordon, and John Andretti. Among them, only Stewart has ever completed every lap of both races—covering a staggering 1,100 miles in a single day back in 2001. No driver has ever won both races on the same day, a testament to the immense physical and mental demands.

Larson, the most recent to attempt the double, has done so each of the last two years but crashed in both races in 2025, underscoring the razor-thin margin for error. Legge brings her own experience, having competed in five previous Indianapolis 500s—with a career-best 22nd-place finish in 2012—and eight starts in NASCAR's Cup Series.

The 2026 Indianapolis 500 will air live at 12:45 p.m. EDT on Fox, while the Coca-Cola 600 follows at 6 p.m. on Prime Video. For fans and gear enthusiasts alike, this is a moment to celebrate not just speed, but the relentless spirit of a driver betting on herself. Whether you're tracking every lap or looking for the perfect race-day apparel, this is a story of grit, history, and the pursuit of the extraordinary.
