In a historic move for motorsports, Katherine Legge is set to become the first woman to attempt "The Double"—competing in both the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on the same day in 2026. This ambitious feat, announced by her agency BRANDed Management just weeks after confirming her fifth Indy 500 bid, will see Legge tackle two of racing's most grueling events on May 24.
Legge will pilot the No. 11 Chevrolet for HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing at the Indy 500, then hop into the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports at Charlotte Motor Speedway's Coke 600. Fresh off her NASCAR Cup Series appearance at Watkins Glen—where she finished 35th—Legge is no stranger to the challenge. She raced seven times for Live Fast Motorsports last year, and her primary sponsor, e.l.f. Cosmetics, will support both efforts.
"Very few drivers ever get the opportunity to attempt 'The Double,' and I do not take that opportunity lightly," Legge shared in a statement. "This challenge is about pushing through perceived limits, betting on yourself, taking risks, and trying to do something unique. I am so incredibly grateful to e.l.f. Cosmetics for believing in what this moment represents and for building a community around it."
Legge joins an elite group of drivers who have attempted the double, including John Andretti (1994), Robby Gordon (2000, 2002-04), Tony Stewart (1999, 2001), Kurt Busch (2014), and Kyle Larson (2024-25). Notably, Stewart remains the only driver to complete all 1,100 miles and 600 laps, achieving the feat in 2001. The double has seen its share of drama—Larson's 2024 attempt was derailed by a rain delay at Indy, and last year he crashed in both races.
"I don't think it's off the table," Legge added, hinting at her determination to finish both events. As the first woman to attempt this grueling endurance test, she's not just racing for history—she's inspiring a new generation of fans and athletes to chase their own limits.
