Legge's Memorial Day weekend schedule will test endurance and logistics as she prepares for two of racing's biggest events.

Katherine Legge is about to trade sleep for history. The 45-year-old British racing veteran has finalized a last-minute deal to attempt one of motorsport's ultimate challenges: "The Double." On Memorial Day weekend, Legge will compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on the same day—a grueling endurance test that has only been conquered by five drivers before.

"It's been a couple of years in the making," Legge said. "I knew that at some point in time it would be something that we looked at doing. But (I) didn't anticipate it being this year."

The plan is as ambitious as it is logistically demanding. Legge will first take the wheel of the No. 11 Chevrolet for HMD Motorsports/AJ Foyt Racing in the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 24. Then, she'll race the clock—and the road—to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR's longest points race, where she'll drive for Live Fast Motorsports.

"We thought, 'Well, why not?'" Legge said. "It might be the only opportunity I get."

If she takes the green flag in both races, Legge will join an elite club of drivers who have accomplished "The Double." The list includes John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, and Kyle Larson—each of whom faced the same daunting combination of speed, stamina, and split-second timing.

For Legge, a seasoned competitor in IndyCar and sports car racing, this is more than just a personal milestone. It's a testament to the spirit of racing itself: the willingness to push limits, embrace the unknown, and seize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Whether she's chasing history at Indianapolis or chasing the checkered flag at Charlotte, one thing is certain—Legge is ready to make Memorial Day weekend unforgettable.
