No. 8 Tennessee (40-8, 14-7 SEC) concluded a three-game softball series on Monday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Lady Vols defeated No. 3 Alabama (44-6, 16-5 SEC), 4-1, in Game 3.
Tennessee won the series, 2-1. Alabama won the series opener, 12-0, while Tennessee won Game 2, 2-0. Rankings reflect the NFCA/GoRout Division I Coaches Poll.
Erin Nuwer started for the Lady Vols in the series finale and pitched two innings. She totaled 39 pitches, including 19 strikes, against nine batters. Nuwer allowed two walks, one hit and hit one batter.
Karlyn Pickens (12-5) pitched five innings in relief for Tennessee, earning her 12th win of the season. She recorded 11 strikeouts and 71 pitches (51 strikes) against 19 batters. Pickens allowed three hits, one run (one earned) and one wild pitch.
The Lady Vols will play on Thursday at Missouri. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. EDT (SEC Network+).
