The Seattle Seahawks made eight selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, and one of their most intriguing picks came in the sixth round. With the No. 199 overall pick, they snagged Emmanuel Henderson Jr., a former Kansas wide receiver—and the only wideout the team drafted this year.

Breaking into the Seahawks' crowded receiving corps won't be easy. The top three spots are locked down by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and Rashid Shaheed, while Tory Horton and Jake Bobo round out the top five. For Henderson to earn a spot on the 53-man roster, he'll need to shine in a different arena: special teams.

That's exactly where his former coach believes he can make an impact. Terrence Samuel, Henderson's wide receivers coach at Kansas, recently joined 93.3 KJR in Seattle to talk about his former player. And he didn't hold back with praise.

"He can run all day," Coach Samuel said. "His ability to go make plays in special teams... I've coached for a while, and I haven't had a guy understand that third part of the game the way he did."

That's high praise from a seasoned coach, and it's exactly what the Seahawks will be looking for. The team returns all five of its top special teams contributors from last season—Brady Russell, Mike Morris, D'Anthony Bell, Nehemiah Pritchett, and Chazz Surratt—so competition will be fierce. But if Henderson can channel that relentless energy and football IQ into every kick and punt, he might just carve out a role for himself on game day.

For a sixth-round pick, that kind of versatility is gold. And for fans looking for a new name to watch in training camp, Emmanuel Henderson Jr. just became a lot more interesting.
