Kansas big man Flory Bidunga, Wake Forest's Juke Harris and Saint Mary's Paulius Murauskas were among the parade of players entering the transfer portal Tuesday, the first of 15 days Division I men's basketball players can go looking for a new school. Bidunga finished his second season with the Jayhawks as the Big 12 defensive player of the year and an Associated Press All-Big 12 second-team pick. Bidunga recorded 13 double-doubles and was the only Division I player to average more than 13 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots.

The college basketball transfer portal officially opened Tuesday, kicking off a 15-day window that promises to reshape rosters across the country. A wave of high-profile names entered on day one, headlined by Kansas's dominant big man, Flory Bidunga.

Bidunga, the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and an AP All-Big 12 second-team selection, is one of the most coveted players now available. The sophomore center was a force for the Jayhawks, averaging 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and leading the Big 12 with 91 blocks. His unique stat line—he was the only player in Division I to average over 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks—makes him a transformative defensive anchor for any program.

He's not alone in seeking a new home. Wake Forest guard Juke Harris, the ACC's Most Improved Player, also entered the portal after a breakout season where he skyrocketed his scoring average to 21.4 points per game. Meanwhile, Saint Mary's sharpshooter Paulius Murauskas, the WCC's second-leading scorer at 18.4 points per game, brings proven offensive firepower to the market after earning All-WCC first-team honors.

While players are exploring their options, programs are already securing talent. Purdue made a significant addition by signing forward Caden Pierce, a transfer from Princeton. Pierce, the 2023-24 Ivy League Player of the Year, brings a polished all-around game (16.6 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 3.2 apg) and veteran experience to a Boilermakers squad looking to build on its recent success.

The movement has just begun, setting the stage for a frenetic period of recruitment and roster building that will define the landscape for the 2024-25 season.
