It's been a thrilling week in Kansas sports, with Big 12 baseball heating up, softball Selection Sunday delivering big news, and more action across the board. Let's dive into the highlights every Jayhawk and Wildcat fan needs to know.

On the diamond, No. 7 Kansas baseball faced a tough test against No. 15 West Virginia, suffering their first sweep of the season. The series finale was particularly brutal, as the Mountaineers run-ruled the Jayhawks 13-2. Meanwhile, K-State baseball finally snapped a nine-game losing streak, grinding out a 5-2 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday—a much-needed boost for the Wildcats as the season winds down.

Softball season is reaching its peak, and Kansas is making noise. Standouts Ella Boyer and Hailey Cripe headline the team's Big 12 honors, with Boyer earning Freshman of the Year and Cripe taking home Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The No. 5 seed Jayhawks showed their grit with a 6-5 win over No. 4 seed UCF on Thursday, though they fell to top-seeded Texas Tech 14-0 on Friday. More importantly, Kansas softball is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015, landing as the No. 8 seed (No. 2 in their regional) in the Norman, Oklahoma regional. It's a milestone moment for the program.

Looking ahead to the hardwood, K-State men's basketball will compete in the 'Players Era Sixteen' of the Las Vegas tournament, while former Wildcat Abdi Bashir Jr. has committed to LSU. Over in the NBA, Kansas alum Joel Embiid scored 24 points for the Philadelphia 76ers, but it wasn't enough to avoid a 144-114 loss to the New York Knicks, who swept the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

On the links, K-State men's golfer Alex Lindstrom earned an individual spot in the NCAA Corvallis Regional, while Kansas men's golf makes its 10th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance as the No. 7 seed in the Athens Regional. Consistency like that is something to celebrate.

From clutch wins to tournament berths, it's a fantastic time to be a Kansas sports fan. Stay tuned for more action as postseason play heats up!
