Patriots linebacker K.J. Britt opened up about playing with Tom Brady during his run with the Buccaneers.

When K.J. Britt stepped into the NFL, he didn't just join any team—he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. For a young linebacker, that was a front-row seat to greatness in action.

Britt recently opened up about what it was like sharing a locker room with Brady, and his memories paint a vivid picture of a player who never coasted on talent alone. "His preparation. He's prepared," Britt said. "He was fun to play with, how he commanded the field. When he took the field, he had an aura around him that was like 'here we go.'" As a rookie, Britt admits he didn't fully grasp how special that was—he thought it was just the standard. But looking back, he knows it was anything but ordinary.

One game, in particular, stands out above the rest: Brady's highly anticipated return to Gillette Stadium in Week 4 of the 2021 season. The Sunday night showdown against his former team, the New England Patriots, was electric from the first snap. "That was crazy. I'll never forget that game," Britt recalled. "That whole week of practice, just the urgency that Tom had. How much that coming back and to win here for Tom, how much it meant for him."

The game itself was a nail-biter. Brady threw for 269 yards, while Patriots rookie Mac Jones answered with 275 yards and two touchdowns. But it was a missed 56-yard field goal by Nick Folk that sealed the Buccaneers' 19-17 victory. "Everybody wanted to go out and win for Tom," Britt added. "And we got the win. It was a hard, it was a good game, and I'll never forget it."

During his time with Brady, Britt says there wasn't much talk about the quarterback's legendary Patriots past. The focus was always on the present—and on winning. That singular drive, that aura Britt described, is a lesson he carries with him to this day, now as a member of the Patriots himself. It's a reminder that greatness isn't just about talent; it's about preparation, urgency, and the will to win—qualities every athlete can aspire to, whether on the field or in their everyday gear.
